Newsday's top 100 Long Island high school baseball players for 2026

Newsday's annual list of the top 100 Long Island high school baseball players for the 2026 season, listed in alphabetical order. All stats listed are from last season unless otherwise noted.
Connor Ackerman, St. Dominic, RHP/1B, Jr.
He was a weapon out of the bullpen, going 5-for-6 in save situations while striking out 42 batters across 32 innings. He also batted .303 with 15 RBIs in the Nassau-Suffolk CHSAA. He is committed to Hofstra.
Jagger Adamo, Connetquot, SS, Sr.
The LIU commit batted .388 and racked up 32 hits, 14 of which went for extra bases (nine doubles, three triples, two homers). The All-Long Island selection drove in 17 runs and scored 30. He also stole 18 bases.
CJ Alfano, St. Anthony’s, 1B, Sr.
The first baseman is committed to West Virginia after hitting .298 with a .965 OPS, collecting two home runs, 11 RBIs and seven steals.
Dylan Alt, Seaford, INF/RHP, Sr.
The Cortland commit batted .458, swatting six home runs and collecting 38 RBIs. He also scored 34 runs in 29 games.
Jaden Alvarez, Holy Trinity, SS, Sr.
The Towson commit batted .333 with a .531 on-base percentage, three home runs, 15 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
Dylan Babek, Bellmore JFK, OF/LHP, Jr.
The Stony Brook commit batted .410 with four homers and 25 RBIs.
James Beckworth, Clarke, SS/RHP, Sr.
He batted .343 with a home run and 25 RBIs. On the mound, he issued just seven walks in 26 innings while striking out 29, finishing with a 1.10 ERA. He is committed to Farmingdale State College.
Tucker Brown, Hauppauge, SS, Sr.
The Adelphi commit is a weapon at the top of the lineup. He batted .380 with 23 runs scored.

Brian Brower, West Islip, LHP/1B/OF, Jr.
The Rutgers commit touches 90 miles per hour with his fastball. He is returning to his original school after spending a year with The Stony Brook School. During his one year in the PSAA, he struck out 17 over 11 1/3 innings for a 2.27 ERA. He also batted .313.
Tyler Brown, Mattituck, RHP/1B, Sr.
The Molloy commit struck out 50 over 30 2/3 innings, holding opponents to a .181 average and posting a 2.05 ERA.
Michael Cascione, Smithtown West, SS/RHP, Sr.
One of Long Island’s best all-around athletes is an elite shortstop. He batted .407 with 15 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He also stole 30 bases.
Andrew Caramico, Chaminade, RHP, Sr.
The St. John’s commit held opponents to a .193 batting average while striking out 24 hitters in 15 innings.
Teagan Cardona, Mepham, OF/RHP, Jr.
He batted .404 with a .475 on-base, driving in 15 runs for the Pirates.
Joe Carey, Garden City, LHP, Sr.
The Holy Cross commit was 7-1 with a 1.33 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP and 73 strikeouts across 58 innings.
Lorenzo Cimino, Farmingdale, LHP/1B, Sr.
The Florida International commit was 3-0 with a 2.37 ERA and 22 strikeouts across 23 innings pitched. He also batted .526 with four home runs and 23 RBIs.
Michael Clare, St. Anthony’s, LHP, Sr.
The Kean commit is tough on opposing hitters. He surrendered just a .156 opponents’ batting average while striking out 41 in 36 1⁄3 innings, helping him attain a 2.12 ERA.

Luke Coats, St. Anthony’s, RHP, Sr.
He will accompany Alfano at West Virginia, largely due to his impact on the mound. He struck out 50 hitters over 43 innings, pitching to a .183 batting average against and a 2.28 ERA.
AJ Conza, Massapequa, LHP/OF/1B, Sr.
The Queens College commit had a 1.00 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 14 innings while also batting .358 with a .964 OPS.
Matt Critchley, West Babylon, RHP/2B, Sr.
Though a three-year varsity starter at second base, the pitcher’s mound is where he dominates. The Maritime College commit had a 0.95 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in 44 1⁄3 innings.
Jonathan Cruz, Westbury, RHP/SS, Sr.
He batted .617 with a home run and 20 RBIs and went 6-0 with a 1.53 ERA and 81 strikeouts over 36 2⁄3 innings.
Gianluca D’Amico, Half Hollow Hills East, OF/RHP, Sr.
He batted .423 with 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He also had a 3.25 ERA.
Chris Desiderio, Garden City, LHP/1B/OF, Sr.
He batted .426 with 11 doubles, three home runs and 23 RBIs while also going 8-1 with a 1.64 ERA.
Aidan Devane, Sayville, SS, Soph.
As a freshman, he played an elite third base and batted leadoff. He batted .315 with a .400 on-base percentage and scored 23 runs.

Conor Dietz, Shoreham-Wading River, LHP/CF, Soph.
He struck out 40 batters and scattered 21 hits across 38 innings pitched, boasting a 1.62 ERA and a .157 batting average against. His fastball already sits between 85 and 87 miles per hour and has touched 88. He also batted .304 with 10 RBIs.
JD Duffy, Whitman, OF/RHP, Sr.
He batted .360 with a .505 on-base, a 1.092 OPS, two home runs and 14 RBIs. He drew 19 walks, stole 14 bases and scored 32 runs. He also earned three wins. He is committed to play at Bentley University in Massachusetts.
Anthony DiNello, Massapequa, C, Sr.
He batted .335 with six doubles and five home runs. He also threw out seven runners attempting to steal bases.
Jordan Drago, Bay Shore, LHP/OF, Sr.
He struck out 42 in 35 innings, holding opponents to a .240 batting average. He also batted .300 with four doubles, two triples, one home run and 12 RBIs.
Christian Eliane, Syosset, RHP/OF, Sr.
He had a 3-0 record and 1.93 ERA over 29 innings, earning him a roster spot with Illinois Institute of Technology. He also batted .321 with 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
Nolan Fernandez, Chaminade, 1B, Sr.
The first baseman batted .324 with two home runs and 24 RBIs.

DJ Filippone, Connetquot, RHP/1B, Sr.
The Mercy College commit had a 0.52 ERA in 40 innings, striking out 39 batters. He also batted .325 with eight doubles, a triple, a home run, 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
Linus Frederick, Northport, RHP, Sr.
The Hofstra commit struck out 51 over 40 innings with a 1.94 ERA and .146 batting average against.
Dylan Frers, Kings Park, RHP, Jr.
The Rutgers commit went 5-1 with a 0.98 ERA, striking out 51 hitters in 42 2⁄3 innings.
Tristan Garcia, North Babylon, OF/LHP, Sr.
He is a two-way lefty who roams the outfield very well and swings a solid bat. He batted .443 with a .557 on-base percentage, six doubles and 14 runs.
Thomas Gargiulo, Eastport-South Manor, C, Jr.
The catcher batted .396 with a .578 on base percentage, an 1.146 OPS, 10 doubles and 13 RBIs.
Mathew Garib, Long Island Lutheran, OF/RHP, Sr.
The Queens College commit batted .375 with 12 doubles, six triples, 22 RBIs and 14 steals while also playing outstanding defense.
Steve Gervasi, West Babylon, SS/RHP, Sr.
The College of Staten Island commit batted .328 with a .425 on-base, racking up 22 hits and 11 RBIs. He is a terror on the basepaths, as he swiped 30 bases and scored 20 runs.
Jayden Gigante, Carey, CF, Sr.
He is the Seahawks’ all-time hits leader and is coming off a season in which he hit .400. He is committed to St. John’s.

Dan Gilroy, Center Moriches, RHP, Sr.
The New Haven commit struck out 45 batters and had a 1.03 ERA in 48 innings, finishing with a 5-2 record.
Jaden Grose, Whitman, RHP/1B, Sr.
He struck out 66 batters over 37 1/3 innings with a 1.31 ERA and five wins. He also hit .273 with nine RBIs and 18 runs scored.
Tristan Hickis, Carey, RHP/1B, Sr.
The Hofstra commit is a big presence on the mound, standing at 6-2, 200 pounds. He went 5-1 as a junior while also batting .338.
Lucas Hubner, Smithtown East, RHP, Jr.
The hard-throwing Dartmouth commit had a delayed start to his sophomore season due to injury. Once he returned, his plus fastball that touches 90 miles per hour was used effectively, as he allowed only six hits in five starts and struck out 27 batters.
Jalen Josey, Holy Trinity, OF, Sr.
The Stony Brook commit batted .297 with three homers, 20 RBIs and 11 steals.
Joe Karpowicz, Ward Melville, OF, Jr.
He batted .420 with a home run, 11 RBIs, 24 runs scored and 22 steals.

Conor Kenefick, West Islip, RHP/SS, Sr.
The Ramapo College of New Jersey commit did not surrender an earned run over 17 innings, striking out 17 batters. He is also a strong defensive shortstop with game-changing speed.
Owen Killeen, Babylon, RHP, Sr.
He had a 1.91 ERA and struck out 33 over 36 2⁄3 innings for the defending Class B state champions. He helped to deliver the state title with a four-hit shutout over Putnam Valley.
Ray Kim, St. Dominic, SS/RHP, Jr.
The Rhode Island commit batted .342 with three home runs and 27 RBIs while also striking out 44 batters over 29 innings. His fastball has touched 91 miles per hour.
Matt Kind, Seaford, 1B/LHP, Sr.
He batted .319 and launched five home runs, driving in 30 runs in 29 games.
Jake King, Sachem East, RHP, Sr.
The Iona commit is a large presence both on the mound and at first base, standing at 6-4 and 226 pounds. He struck out 46 hitters, helping him achieve a 2.26 ERA. He also batted .368 with 21 hits and drove in 15 runs.
Matthew Kurz, Clarke, OF/RHP, Sr.
The Hofstra commit hit .446 with four homers, 26 RBIs, 27 runs and a 1.201 OPS. He also went 6-1 with a 1.64 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP while striking out 47 across 38 innings.
Brett LaGallo, Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK, 1B/LHP, Sr.
The two-way lefty batted .333 with a .907 OPS, hitting a home run and driving in 16 for the Hawks. He is committed to Le Moyne.

Richie Lavacca, Kellenberg, SS, Sr.
He hit .295 with five doubles, three home runs and 16 RBI. He is committed to Adelphi.
Chase Lordi, Oyster Bay, SS/RHP, Jr.
The three-year varsity starter batted .400 with 23 RBIs, scored 28 runs and had 21 stolen bases. He also had a 1.13 ERA, 24 2/3 innings and 38 strikeouts.
Richard Luke, Clarke, RHP, Sr.
A precision pitcher, he struck out 48 and only walked nine in 42 innings, posting a 1.15 ERA.
Will Lynn, Bethpage, RHP/DH, Sr.
The Eagles’ ace returns after going 5-2 with a 1.64 ERA and 40 strikeouts over 38 1⁄3 innings. He also batted .318 with a home run and 13 RBIs. He will be attending Palm Beach Atlantic of Division II next year.
Michael Mallon, Connetquot, RHP, Sr.
The Western Connecticut commit struck out 11 and won two games with a 3.25 ERA.
Juju Martinez, Stony Brook School, C, Soph.
He batted .426, and is one of the better defensive catchers in the Class of 2028.
Robbie Mascia, Commack, C, Soph.
He batted .375 with eight doubles, two homers, 15 steals and 20 runs scored.
Joey Maxwell, Holy Trinity, CF, Sr.
He batted .383 with a .560 on-base percentage, 11 RBIs, 24 runs and 11 steals.

Keegan McElligott, St. John the Baptist, SS, Sr.
The Binghamton commit has a knack for getting on base, walking 24 times and posting a .459 on-base percentage while hitting .284. He drove in 16 runs and went 12-for-13 on stolen base attempts.
Brady McGowan, Eastport-South Manor, SS, Sr.
The Marist commit is one of Long Island’s premier leadoff hitters and defensive shortstops. His 25 hits netted a .317 average, three doubles, two triples, 10 RBIs, 22 runs and 22 stolen bases.
Shane Meehan, Sayville, C, Sr.
The Stony Brook commit is a big, power-hitting catcher, as he had seven doubles and four homers with a .325 average while knocking in 18 runs.
Trevor Meehan, East Hampton, LHP/1B, Sr.
The Bridgeport commit burst onto the scene when he threw back-to-back no-hitters in May. He had a 2.26 ERA in 40 1⁄3 innings with 54 strikeouts.
Mason Miles, East Hampton, 3B, Sr.
The Bucknell commit batted .450 with three homers and 24 RBIs.

Dom Muccia, St. Dominic, 2B/SS, Jr.
He had 29 hits and batted .382, putting himself on pace to break the program’s all-time hits record. He already has 56 career hits through two years in the NSCHSAA, which is a wood-bat league.
Jack Mulligan, Massapequa, RHP/1B, Soph.
He struck out 24 hitters over 21 innings, pitched to a 2.62 ERA and has been clocked at 91 mph.
Taylor Nitsch, Plainedge, OF/RHP, Sr.
The Towson commit is a prominent member of one of the best pitching staffs on Long Island. He struck out 63 hitters in 43 innings for a 1.79 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. He also batted .400 with two home runs and 20 RBIs, with 34 runs scored and five stolen bases.
Andrew Noe, Kellenberg, 2B/SS, Jr.
The St. John’s commit batted .364 with 18 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He was the MVP of last year’s championship game.
Ricky Nuñez, Lindenhurst, RHP/SS, Sr.
He returns as the staff’s ace after registering 51 strikeouts and a 1.29 ERA. His fastball sits in the high-80s. He also batted .348 with a .420 on-base percentage.
Finn O’Rourke, East Hampton, RHP, Sr.
The Saint Peter’s commit struck out 55 hitters over 49 innings, finishing with a 1.95 ERA.

Jake Ostertag, Babylon, OF/RHP, Jr.
He batted .467 with a 1.229 OPS, four homers, 35 RBIs and 10 steals and went 7-0 with 43 strikeouts and a 1.31 ERA over 42 2⁄3 innings.
Chris Parisi, Kellenberg, RHP, Sr.
The Queens College commit went 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA and 46 strikeouts.
Lucas Patton, East Islip, LHP/OF, Sr.
He had a 0.36 ERA while striking out 65 and only walking seven batters over 52 innings. He also batted .333 and drove in 18 runs. He is committed to the College of Staten Island.
John Pericolosi, South Side, SS/2B, Sr.
The Stony Brook commit is one of the best contact hitters on Long Island, having only struck out twice last year while hitting .528. Ten of his 28 knocks went for extra bases, resulting in a 1.446 OPS and 17 RBIs. He also walked 12 times, stole 18 bases and scored 15 runs.
Jack Pfeifer, Chaminade, RHP, Sr.
The Molloy commit was dominant out of the bullpen, saving six games with a 1.04 ERA and a .165 batting average against through 27 innings.
Max Rayburn, Center Moriches, 1B, Sr.
He hi four home runs and collected 25 RBIs with a .410 batting average.

The rightfielder hit .365 with six home runs.
Brendan Rivera, Longwood, RHP, Sr.
The Cortland commit went 6-1 with a 1.35 ERA and 1.00 WHIP over 52 innings, striking out 59 hitters.
Aiden Ruiz, Stony Brook School, SS, Sr.
The Vanderbilt commit batted .52 in the PSAA and was selected to play shortstop for the 18u USA national team in September. He batted .379 for Team USA. During the global tournament, he batted .379.
Lucien Saint Cyr, Whitman, SS, Sr.
The Bucknell commit batted .493 with a .589 on-base percentage, 1.384 OPS, three home runs, 37 RBIs, 28 runs and 17 steals.
Ethan Saintjean, Half Hollow Hills West, 3B, Sr.
The Brown commit batted .325 with two homers and 21 RBIs, and plays a strong third base.
Dylan Santucci, Syosset, 1B, Sr.
The Hofstra commit batted .490 with a 1.307 OPS, hitting a pair of home runs while driving in 22. He scored 19 runs and only struck out three times.
Tyler Scarry, Division, RHP/1B, Sr.
The Queens College commit batted .387 with a 1.027 OPS, with seven doubles, two home runs, 15 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He also had a 2.55 ERA over 44 innings.

Connor Sheridan, Cold Spring Harbor, SS/RHP, Sr.
The two-way shortstop brings all five tools to the table. He batted .455 with four homers and 24 RBIs, and will be playing outfield for Stonehill College.
Mike Smar, Massapequa, 3B, Sr.
The Union College commit batted .522 with a 1.510 OPS.
Trevor Smith, East Meadow, SS/RHP, Sr.
He batted .388 with a 1.069 OPS. He also stole 22 bases and scored 24 runs.
Vaughan Steinert, The Stony Brook School, CF, Jr.
The 6-2 centerfielder transferred into Stony Brook after playing with Chaminade and reclassified, making him a 2027 graduate. The Clemson commit brings a smooth, left-handed swing and natural power, as well as speed that will make him a well-rounded offensive weapon.
Jaxson Torres, Plainedge, RHP/1B, Jr.
Opponents simply do not hit him. Across 41 innings, Torres allowed two earned runs for a 0.34 ERA. He struck out 64 batters and finished with 0.561 WHIP. He also batted .478 with a .569 on-base, six doubles, two homers and 20 RBIs.
Michael Tramaglini, East Islip, 3B/RHP, Sr.
The Wagner commit batted .340 with 30 RBIs and 18 runs scored while also having a 1.61 ERA and 20 strikeouts over 20 innings.
Ryan Tullo, Wantagh, 3B, Sr.
A towering presence in the righty’s batter’s box, the 6-5, 220-pound Lynn University commit batted .352 with four doubles, four triples, two home runs and 23 RBIs for the defending Nassau Class A champions.

Jacob Vaccariello, St. Anthony’s, RHP, Sr.
The Stony Brook commit struck out 30 batters in 20 1⁄3 innings, holding opponents to a .141 batting average and owning a 1.72 ERA.
Kyle Walsh, Garden City, OF, Sr.
The Staten Island commit batted .371 with nine doubles, two home runs and 20 RBIs.
Logan Walsh, Eastport-South Manor, RHP/3B, Sr.
The Felician commit held opponents to a .187 batting average, striking out 52 hitters in 51 innings and finishing with a 1.64 ERA. He pitched three complete games and went 7-1, while also driving in 16 runs.
Alex Waye, Amityville, OF/LHP, Sr.
The two-way lefty outfielder was dominant in both areas. In 18 2⁄3 innings pitched, he struck out 38 batters with a fastball that sits in the upper 80s, finishing with a 1.87 ERA. He also picked up 21 hits, batting .457 with 18 RBIs. He even stole 21 bases in 17 games.
Bobby Wescott, Plainedge, 1B, Sr.
Perhaps the best power hitter on Long Island, Wescott is primed for a huge senior year. The sweet-swinging lefty batted .471 with a .600 on-base percentage, 11 doubles, six homers, 43 RBIs and 33 runs scored in 25 games. He is committed to Stony Brook.
Derek Yormack, Bellmore JFK, RHP/UT, Jr.
One of two Vanderbilt commits in his family, he batted .520 with 21 RBIs and only surrendered two earned runs over 36 innings pitched, striking out 62.

Ryan Yormack, Bellmore JFK, 1B/RHP, Jr.
The other Vanderbilt commit slugged 10 home runs while collecting 36 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He batted .582.
Jake Zabbara, Mount Sinai, LHP, Sr.
In 50 innings pitched, he struck out 55 and only allowed 34 hits through 50 innings with a 1.75 ERA.
Matt Zambriski, Riverhead, RHP/SS/1B, Jr.
The St. John’s commit pitched a perfect game and finished with a 3-0 record,1.50 ERA and 70 strikeouts over 40 1⁄3 innings. He batted .312 with a .408 on-base percentage and 21 RBIs.
Everett Zarzicki, Kings Park, RHP/OF, Jr.
The ace of a loaded Kingsmen staff, Zarzicki is committed to UConn after striking out 55 over 54 1⁄3 innings with a 1.29 ERA.
Jaiden Zoller, Mepham, RHP/CF, Sr.
The ace of the staff earned himself a Division I offer from the University of New Haven after posting a 1.96 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 25 innings. He also batted .474 with a .643 on-base percentage.
