On Friday morning, the East Hampton boys and girls basketball teams got an opportunity to witness a championship-level work ethic.
A message from new athletic director Todd Gulluscio the night prior had instructed the players to be at the school the following morning. Those who could be in attendance were surprised by Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson, who held a workout and allowed players to watch from the sidelines.
“I told them about ten minutes before who would be coming and you could see the initial excitement,” Gulluscio said. “You could see their amazement during the workout. It was such a gift and we’re thankful to Jalen and his team for sharing that experience.”
Brunson, who is recovering from wrist surgery, requested no photos or video be taken during his workout but made sure to greet and shake hands with players. The 2026 Finals MVP also signed autographs afterwards and posed for a group photo.
“To see the work that an athlete of his stature puts in during the off-season is a special visual for these kids,” Gulluscio said. “I’ve met a few professional athletes and I don’t think anyone is as polite and first class as Jalen and those surrounding him.”
