BOYS LACROSSE

Cameron James and Brendan Power, Smithtown East

Smithtown East fell to Manhasset, 12-11, in the Long Island Class B championship on June 6. James and Power combined for eight goals and three assists to come back from a 7-1 deficit and force a tight finish.

Tommy Kasselakis and Marco Petruccelli, Manhasset

Petruccelli posted three goals and three assists and Kasselakis contributed three goals and two assists to help power a 12-11 win over Yorktown in the state Class B semifinals.

Colby Koenigsberger, Cold Spring Harbor

The junior midfielder delivered four goals and three assists in a 14-5 victory over Bronxville in the state Class D semifinals.

Devin Paccione and Joe Nicholson, Wantagh

Nicholson had a goal and two assists, and Paccione had two goals and two assists as Wantagh’s comeback fell short, 10-8, to Rye in the state class C semifinal.

Braden Tucker and Nolan Wieczorek, Massapequa

Massapequa defeated Mamaroneck, 13-11, in the state Class A semifinal. Tucker had four goals and one assist. Wieczorek posted his 18th game with at least five points, including four in the fourth quarter, as he finished with two goals and six assists.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Grace Brantuk and Kimberly Colucci, Garden City

The Trojans lost to Victor in the state Class B championship, 13-5. Colucci led with two goals and one assist, and Brantuk had two goals, two draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover. Garden City won 13 consecutive games prior to Saturday and reached back-to-back state finals.

Kailey Bruckner, Bayport-Blue Point

The Phantoms lost to Cold Spring Harbor, 9-7, in the Long Island Class D championship. Bruckner's three goals kept Bayport-Blue Point alive.

Sophia Buffardi, Sayville

Every team this spring began chasing perfection in March, but only Sayville’s 21-0 team achieved it come June. Buffardi scored four goals in a 15-7 state Class C final victory over Jamesville-DeWitt after four points against Rye the day prior in the state semifinal.

Madyn Kalb and Olivia Pucchio, Huntington

The Blue Devils lifted their first state title with a 9-6 win over Penfield. Pucchio had four goals after three goals and an assist Friday in a semifinal win over Suffern. Kalb helped hold Suffern’s Maryland commit Michaela Fay and Penfield’s Syracuse commit Peyton Rothfuss scoreless in the second half.

Kaitlin Millet and Hannah Sliwak, Cold Spring Harbor

Millet had five goals, including four in the third quarter with the go-ahead score, in CSH’s 11-8 state Class D final win over Penn Yan. Sliwak sealed the deal with three fourth-quarter goals. It’s the Seahawks’ third consecutive state title.
