GENEVA — Cold Spring Harbor’s boys lacrosse team saw its bid for a fourth consecutive state title end last season in the state semifinal round. That game never left the minds of the 2026 Seahawks, but trailing by two entering the fourth quarter of the state Class D championship, Cold Spring Harbor had its back against the wall.
But Cold Spring Harbor juniors Roy Testa, Andrew Ioannou and Colby Koenigsberger rallied with five of six fourth-quarter goals. When Dylan Reilly — who scored the other fourth-quarter goal — slapped the “Cold Spring Harbor” sticker in the middle of the state Class D bracket, the dream seeped into reality.
Last year was a blip; the Seahawks are back on top.
Cold Spring Harbor boys lacrosse topped Marcellus in the state Class D title game. And it wasn’t easy; in fact, it was the best title game of the day.

But that makes the celebrations all the more memorable. Here’s how it looked: pic.twitter.com/351buWfmvM
Cold Spring Harbor battled back with six fourth-quarter goals to top Section III’s Marcellus, 11-9, Sunday in the state Class D championship game at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Koenigsberger had three goals and two assists.
“It’s an incredible feeling,” Koenigsberger said. “After last year, I didn’t have that big of a role. After this season, I know what I can do. And it feels awesome.”
It’s the Seahawks' fourth state title in five years and eighth in program history. Reilly, who was injured for Cold Spring Harbor’s 1-3 start and has been crucial to Cold Spring Harbor’s 17-game winning streak since, had two goals and one assist.
Alex Vitale was terrific at the faceoff X, winning 16-of-24 faceoffs with nine ground balls. Goalie Matty Kammer had nine saves. Senior captain Rex O’Connor forced four turnovers.
“To be with these fellas day in and day out, starting in February in the weight room,” O’Connor said. “This just means it all to me.”
Down one with 6:26 left, Cold Spring Harbor (18-3) scored four consecutive goals to take an 11-8 lead with 1:18 left. That featured a brilliant one-versus-one where Ioannou burst to the right and ripped a low shot. Testa capped the run with a difficult ground ball, beating three Marcellus defenders to score his third goal of the game and second of the quarter.
TIE GAME: Koenigsberger scores at the end of the shot clock! Tied up 7-7.

“I told him at one point when we lost the lead that they wanted the ground balls more,” coach Dennis Bonn said. “The turning point [in the state semifinal] was when we decided we wanted every ground ball, and we blew them out. Well, we decided we wanted every ground ball, and that was no more evident than that ground ball.”
Bonn, who is now 8-0 in state championships with Cold Spring Harbor, praised his defense as it faced a dynamic Marcellus duo of Christopher Doshna (four goals, two assists) and Henry Lawrence (three goals). The Seahawks allowed just two goals over the final 15 minutes, with one coming with 12.1 seconds left as the game was all but over.
Bonn: “Between Jeep Pace, Denis Kiely, Brady Meyer and Andrew Bauer, those four kids defensively were just unbelievable today.”
