Last week's ranking in parentheses

1. St. Anthony’s (1)

The Friars beat Boston College, but fell to La Salle College High School. St. Anthony’s (4-3) has been buoyed by strong faceoff play from Paul LoNigro, who has stepped up amid an injury to FOGO Robert Johnson. A win over Staples on Saturday kicked off a four-game homestand where ranked opponents Don Bosco Prep, Malverne Prep and Iona Prep all come to visit over the next nine days.

2. Chaminade (2)

Shoutout to Brendan Sim, who scored four goals and assisted another for the Flyers in their win over St. Ignatius. An 11-9 win over Fairfield Saturday sets up a well-earned break. Chaminade (7-3) won’t play until its April 21 meeting with New Canaan.

3. Garden City (3)

Garden City (6-0) notched the country’s top ranking among public schools in USA Lacrosse this week and spent Saturday dominating La Salle Academy after doing the same to Rye Wednesday. Ben Smith burst onto the scene as a freshman and has continued to dominate as a sophomore.

4. Massapequa (4)

Rocco Spallina and Nolan Wieczorek continue to score goal after goal, highlighted by a win over Long Beach Saturday. This Massapequa (6-0) offense has yet to score fewer than 13 goals in a game and will be tested Tuesday against Garden City in a much-anticipated battle.

5. Manhasset (5)

Manhasset (6-1) lost its first game of the season to the No. 2 public school in the country in Connecticut’s Darien, but how about this defense? Kip Zaccharia and company have held a loaded schedule to just 5.3 goals per game.

6. Northport (6)

Northport (4-1) scored a combined 31 goals against Connetquot and South Fork. Ryder Maag had eight of those goals. A potential playoff preview with Lindenhurst awaits on Wednesday.

7. Port Washington (7)

Port Washington (6-0) dominated Long Island Lutheran as Harry Eynon and Ty Noga tallied six goals apiece. Now it’s time for the Vikings to battle through the gauntlet, with Cold Spring Harbor and Manhasset on the schedule this week.

8. Wantagh (8)

Wantagh (6-2) handed Sachem North its first loss and beat North Shore, both in dominant fashion. A Tuesday matchup with Syosset should be a terrific watch. Devin Paccione has amassed 53 points already.

9. Farmingdale (10)

Farmingdale followed its win over West Islip with a 16-8 win over Plainedge. Sean Schumeyer has 22 points through the Dalers’ 5-1 start.

10. Syosset (unranked)

Syosset (6-1) shook off its one-goal loss to Sachem North with dominant wins over Bethpage and Herricks. Brody Waxer already has 21 goals and nine assists.

On the cusp: Sachem North, Smithtown East, Cold Spring Harbor, South Side, Shoreham-Wading River.
