(Last week's ranking in parentheses).

1. St. Anthony’s (1)

The Friars took USA Lacrosse’s No. 3 team in Lawrenceville to overtime before losing. They responded with wins over Kellenberg, Connecticut’s Darien and an overtime win off the stick of Dylan Harrigan against Pennsylvania’s Haverford. Stepinac is next, but that’s all that remains before St. Anthony’s (10-4) faces Chaminade on May 13 for the state CHSAA Class AAA title.

2. Chaminade (2)

How about an undefeated April? Chaminade (11-3) defeated Iona Prep this week, 17-5, and returned the country’s top recruit in James Gillis (goal, assist) to the field. John Balsamo (five goals, four assists) dominated and will take the momentum into Sunday’s showdown at Delbarton before Connecticut’s Wilton and Darien come to Mineola.

3. Garden City (3)

The Trojans destroyed a talented Syosset team, 18-3, before comfortably winning this year’s Woodstick Classic against Manhasset late Saturday night. Long Beach is next for Garden City (12-1), but this looks like a team already prepared for a deep run into June lacrosse. No surprise there.

4. Massapequa (4)

Massapequa (11-2) beat Oceanside and Plainedge by a combined score of 38-10. But let’s take a moment to celebrate Rocco Spallina, who broke Ian Kirby’s all-time program record of 122 goals. Spallina, only a junior, carries 131 goals into a big matchup against a fellow Class A team in Farmingdale on Thursday.

5. Syosset (5)

A seven-game winning streak came to a close against Garden City, but a new streak could be starting back up after Syosset beat Stepinac, 9-6, on Saturday. Syosset (11-2) will travel to Port Washington under the lights on Friday night as it takes on another Class A opponent.

6. Wantagh (9)

Two games, 32 goals. That’s what Wantagh (10-3) combined to produce against Bethpage and Connecticut’s Ridgefield this week. Four different Wantagh players already have at least 40 points — Devin Paccione (89), Luke Martini (60), Joe Nicholson (53) and Matt Giacobello (43) — and Sean Stachlik (33) could soon follow as Seaford comes to town on Thursday.

7. Farmingdale (7)

The Dalers cruised to wins over Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK and Oceanside before the reigning state Class C champions in Somers defeated them, 10-4. It’ll only get tougher for Farmingdale (10-3) with Massapequa up next.

8. Northport (8)

Northport (10-2) comfortably beat Ward Melville on Tuesday behind standout performances from Greyson Cabrera, goalie Kevin Howard and faceoff specialist Jack Reiser. The Tigers also beat Bay Shore. A county final rematch comes up on Tuesday against Half Hollow Hills before Whitman comes to Tiger Stadium.

9. Cold Spring Harbor (10)

The Seahawks (10-3) extended their winning streak to nine after beating South Side and Huntington this week. It’s a well-rounded group, from Matty Kammer in goal to Alex Vitale at the faceoff X to Roy Testa up front, with a healthy dose of Rex O’Connor in the midfield. Cold Spring Harbor faces Friends Academy with a full head of steam.

10. Manhasset (6)

Manhasset (8-4) is more than capable of shooting back up this list. A 14-6 loss to Garden City in the Woodstick Classic is understandable, especially given the injuries around this roster. But with playoffs around the corner, games against Connecticut’s Ridgefield and Bethpage this week mean important bounce-back opportunities.

On the cusp: Sachem North, Lindenhurst, South Side, Port Washington, Smithtown East.
