As Oceanside and Syosset went through pregame warmups, player after player stepped out as their names were called. When Oceanside’s Sean Brosokas heard his name, he stepped forward and roared with his fists clenched forward.
“It’s all about passion. It’s all about the team,” he said. “We come out with flair.”
Now his team is one win away from its first county title since 2000.
The top-seeded Sailors beat No. 4 Syosset, 5-3, in a goal-filled afternoon Sunday at SUNY Farmingdale in the Nassau Class AAA semifinal round.
Oceanside (13-0-3) will face No. 3 Farmingdale at 2 p.m. on Saturday at SUNY Farmingdale.
Brosokas scored two goals, both headers from corner kicks off the foot of junior Dylan Langevin.
Senior Jackson Langevin converted a penalty kick in the 46th minute for his 16th goal of the season to give Oceanside a 2-1 lead. He added his 17th in the 75th minute as the Sailors went ahead 5-2.
Dylan Langevin notched his third assist five minutes earlier, threading a pass to Michael Molite.
“The Langevin brothers are phenomenal,” Oceanside coach Patrick Turk said. “You see it both in training and on the field. They hold each other to a higher standard just amongst themselves.”
Thomas Ryglewicz scored two goals for Syosset (9-5-3), including a gorgeous 25-yard free kick to tie the score at 2-2 in the second half.
Syosset hung in and never looked outmatched in the contest.
“We ask our guys to buy in, that’s a thing that we do,” Syosset coach Brett Waxer said. “It won’t work if our seniors don’t buy all in . . . They make the standard and our guys follow along. They set the tone for our group, and we’re really going to miss them.”
