Brentwood to hold celebration of life service for late boys soccer coach Ron Eden

Brentwood will hold a celebration of life service for legendary varsity boys soccer coach Ron Eden, who died from prostate cancer on July 19 at 72 years old, athletic director Steven Davis announced Friday.
The ceremony will be held at Brentwood High School’s Ray Perez Turf Soccer Field on Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The service is open to the public.
Eden had a 484-70-32 coaching record, second only to Robert Muir of Mattituck for most wins (509) among Suffolk head coaches in Long Island history. He also was an assistant coach at Brentwood for 16 seasons, going 182-83-23. Eden led Brentwood to a 17-1-1 record and a spot in the county finals last fall.
Eden took over Brentwood’s boys soccer program in 1996 and oversaw 17 league titles, 11 Suffolk championships, 10 Long Island championships and state titles in 2008, 2010, 2019 and 2023. Brentwood finished as a state finalist three other times.
The school has not yet named a permanent head coach for the fall, Davis said.
