Hauppauge quarterback Taylor Mileti had her team within one win of a Suffolk County flag football title a year ago.

This year her team took that final step to a county crown. Mileti passed for two first half touchdowns as Hauppauge opened a 19-point lead and went on to a 26-7 win over Deer Park to capture the Suffolk Class B flag football title Wednesday night at Sachem East High School in Farmingville.

Mileti utilized Brooke Telfer and an efficient short passing game to set up the first half scores. Telfer caught three passes for 24 yards to set up a Mileti-to-Lindsay Adams 1-yard TD pass for the 6-0 first quarter lead.

Hauppauge added to the lead when Kaylee Maer had a 25-yard touchdown run down the visitor’s sideline. Her cutback at the end of the run eluded the final defender. Adams caught the one-point conversion pass from Mileti for the 13-0 lead. Mileti found Charlotte Derby with a 4-yard strike for the 19-0 halftime advantage.

Deer Park defensive back Taylor Gabel grabbed two interceptions in the third quarter. The Falcons capitalized on the second theft when Gabel scrambled around the right end for an 11-yard TD run. She found Destinee Williamson with the one-point conversion pass to get the Falcons within 19-7 with 3:01 left in the third quarter.

Olivia Condos interception and 25-yard return to the Deer Park 20 set up the final score when Maer went on a 4-yard TD run for the final margin.
