One of Long Island’s greatest rivalries has arrived on the flag football field.

Massapequa visited Farmingdale, which is playing in its first flag football season, Thursday and Massapequa quarterback Victoria O’Neill cemented her name in the rivalry’s first edition

O’Neill went 8-for-9 passing for 154 yards and four touchdowns to lead Massapequa to a 38-9 victory in Nassau Conference I.

“We were very excited from the start,” O’Neill said. “It was just about executing. I have so much confidence in who I’m throwing to, and I put a lot of trust in them to make a play.”

Massapequa’s first two offensive possessions resulted in a punt and an interception by Farmingdale’s Lily Cartagena. Still scoreless, O’Neill went to work. On the third play of the next drive, she found Emma Pugliese for a 28-yard touchdown pass with 1:31 left in the first quarter.

Massapequa’s Reese Reustle snagged a jump ball for a 42-yard gain, and O’Neill then found Lia Sampson for a 4-yard touchdown to take a 13-0 lead with 7:30 left in the second quarter.

On Massapequa's next drive, O’Neil found Reustle, who pitched the ball to Rachel Turnbull for a 36-yard hook-and-ladder touchdown. Massapequa led 20-0 at halftime.

“The girls get a little more pumped up since it’s a crosstown rivalry,” Massapequa coach Bruce Stegner said. “Farmingdale is a brand-new program, so they were at a little disadvantage. We’ve done this for five years. As they get more time, I know this will be an even bigger rivalry.”

Farmingdale’s Kelsey Brosnan took a 2-yard slant and turned it into a 66-yard touchdown reception with 4:34 left in the third quarter. A safety followed, and Farmingdale trailed 26-9 -  just a two-possession game. Brosnan finished with 165 total yards of offense.

“Kelsey, we think, is our most athletic player,” Farmingdale coach Jeff Dimoulas said. “She’s a dynamic athlete and does a lot for us. We’re a first-year program, and we’re making first-year mistakes, so we’re building a foundation and learning as we move forward.”

Massapequa’s Emma Natalie's 45-yard pick-6 with less than a minute left in the third quarter gave Massapequa a 32-9 lead. Natalie finished with six flag pulls.

“It was so surreal,” Natalie said. “I wouldn’t have done it without my teammates by my side and all of the support. It was my first pick-6 ever, and it was just amazing.”
