Newsday's top 10 Long Island high school flag football team rankings

1. Half Hollow Hills (1)
Hills captured the Suffolk Class A championship with a 27-6 win over Sachem East on Wednesday. On Saturday, Hills won its second straight Long Island title, defeating Herricks, 27-7, behind Samantha Heyman’s four touchdown passes. Emma Gould and Harlow Rivera each had two sacks. Hills (17-0) will play in the state semifinal at 11:30 a.m. June 6 at Homer High School against the winner of Mamaroneck and Middletown.
2. MacArthur (3)
The Generals defeated Hauppauge, 25-19, in overtime of the Long Island Class B championship game. Taylor Garro caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Gina Iannuzzi to give MacArthur its first Long Island championship in program history. MacArthur will face the winner of Washingtonville and Yorktown in the state semifinals at 3 p.m. June 6 at Homer High School.
3. Hauppauge (2)
Hauppauge, led by Taylor Mileti, won the Suffolk Class B title with a 26-7 victory over Deer Park. The Eagles then lost to MacArthur, 25-19, in overtime of the Long Island Class B championship game. Hauppauge finished 17-1.
4. Plainedge (4)
The Red Devils’ season came to an end with a 13-9 loss to MacArthur on May 23. Plainedge finished 14-2-1.
5. Sachem East (5)
Sachem East lost, 27-6, to Half Hollow Hills in the Suffolk Class A championship on May 27. Sofia Larrea had a rushing touchdown in the loss. Sachem East finished 15-3.
6. Deer Park (6)
The Falcons lost to Hauppauge, 26-7, in the Suffolk Class B championship game. Taylor Gabel had an 11-yard rushing touchdown in the defeat. Deer Park finished 12-3.
7. Herricks (7)
The Cinderella run came to a close for Herricks. The Highlanders fell, 27-7, to Half Hollow Hills in the Long Island Class A championship game. Regan Cottrell had a rushing touchdown. Herricks finished 9-8-1 after defeating three teams in the Nassau playoffs that it had lost to during the regular season.
8. Floyd (8)
Floyd ended its season with a 19-12 loss to eventual Long Island Class A champion Half Hollow Hills on May 21.
9. POB JFK (9)
Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK finished 9-6-4. It reached the Nassau Class A championship before falling to Herricks, 21-0, on May 23.
10. Syosset (10)
Syosset’s season came to an end with a 12-6 loss to Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK. Syosset finished with a 10-2-3 record.
