Top 10 high school girls lacrosse breakout performers on Long Island

The best girls lacrosse teams often lean on experienced stars, but every season brings a new wave of talent. Breakout players can shift momentum when they emerge as playmakers, leaders and difference-makers across the field.
Here are Newsday’s top 10 breakout performers to watch, listed in alphabetical order:
Charlie Coco, Lynbrook, M, 8th
Coco already made an impact in Lynbrook's midfield last season, starting as a seventh-grader. She has great field sense that will only get better with a year of varsity experience under her belt. She tallied 11 points, five draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Ilaria Florence, Friends Academy, A, Soph.
Florence is a quick, lefthanded attacker who split time in the starting lineup as a freshman last season. She scored 42 goals and had 14 assists last season and will step into a larger role this season.
Michaela Grever, Glenn, A/M, Fr.
Though only a freshman, Grever already has over 100 varsity points. She scored 45 goals and seven assists in seventh grade and 45 goals and 15 assists in eighth grade. This year, the dominant scorer will continue to lead Glenn’s offense.
Kayla Grochow, Half Hollow Hills, M, Soph.
As a freshman, Grochow ranked third in Suffolk for goals with 62. A three-year varsity starter, she also added 22 assists and averaged five draw controls per game. Grochow will step into a bigger leadership role this year.
Jennavieve Lineman, Connetquot, M, Soph.
Lineman is a true two-way impact player. She pushes the pace off the draw and turns defensive stops into scoring threats. She has the ability to dodge hard to goal and shoot on the run. She ranked second on Long Island in draw controls last season with 111.
Tess McGuire, Calhoun, M, Soph.
McGuire has a motor that does not stop and an impressive lacrosse IQ. She put up 40 points (26 goals, 14 assists) as a freshman and was a team leader in takeaways and ground balls on the draw circle.
Molly McNamara, Farmingdale, M, Fr.
McNamara notched 29 goals and 11 assists for the Dalers while being a starter as an eight-grader.. She is an impact midfielder and a threat on both sides of the ball and will only get better.
Tyler Reedy, Carle Place, M, Fr.
Reedy emerged as a major contributor last season, recording 43 goals and 18 assists while being a starter as an eighth-grader. Alongside her sister, junior Northwestern commit Madison, Reedy will be a serious threat in the Frogs’ offense.
Avah Robinson, Miller Place, M, 8th
Robinson exploded on to the scene as a seventh-grader, competing with players five years older than her, including Division I commits. She scored 37 goals and had five assists and will have an even bigger impact this season.
Olivia Wong, Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK, M, Fr.
Wong had an immediate impact with 37 goals and seven assists while being a starter as an eighth-grader last season. As she continues to lead POB JFK in the midfield, she'll only get better with more experience.
