It took 38 seconds for Seaford to set the tone.

After a quick Vikings throw-in, Giuliana Viggiano accelerated toward the net. She fired home a goal into the bottom-right corner to give Seaford the early lead.

Viggiano scored two goals and second-seeded Seaford claimed its second straight Nassau Class A girls soccer title, defeating No. 4 Floral Park, 4-1, at Farmingdale State on Saturday night.

“Zoe Qosa, I got to give it to her. She gave me a great pass, and I just placed it in the corner,” Viggiano said. “It just got us running. We just kept pushing from there. We didn’t give up.”

Vikings keeper Kelly Harrington was steady in net, with three first-half saves. Junior captain Riley Stovall was a big presence on defense. She blocked a golden Floral Park opportunity with her heel to keep the Knights off the scoresheet in the 14th minute.

Seaford held a 1-0 advantage at halftime, and Stovall did it on offense to set the tone to start the second half. Stovall launched a shot and scored to give the Vikings a two-goal lead just 63 seconds into the second half.

“It was my first game back after a month of having a broken foot, so I was very excited,” Stovall said. “I had so much energy. My adrenaline was through the roof after those plays.”

Georgina Deros scored later in the half and Viggiano had her second to go up 4-0.

Seaford ended another underdog run after defeating No. 7 Island Trees, 1-0, in the semifinals. This time, the Vikings denied Floral Park its first county title in the Knights’ first appearance in the final. Christina Vargas scored on a penalty kick with less than a minute left for the Knights to wrap up her outstanding high school career.

“Going into the season, if you told us we’d be here, I think everyone would have taken it,” Floral Park coach Kurt Rogers said. “We’re going to return nine of the 11 starters that were on the field today. I think we’ve set a new standard for what’s expected of us.”

The Vikings will face the winner of Mount Sinai and Harborfields in the Long Island Class A championship in a state subregional contest at 6 p.m. Thursday at Farmingdale State, the same stage where Seaford’s season ended a year ago.

“It’s so exciting,” Viggiano said of returning to the Long Island championship. “Last year we lost, and now this year we’re ready for it.”
