High school sports roundup: Early-season soccer, field hockey and volleyball scores

Zoe Carillo scored two second-half goals and Chloe Caldwell added another to help host North Shore come from behind and secure a 3-3 draw with Manhasset in a non-league girls soccer game in Glen Head on Monday morning. Giovanna Corridan fed out an assist and Vasilia Tzounaz saved 10 shots for North Shore (1-1-1). Skylar Wong led the attack for Manhasset (0-1-1) with a goal and an assist, and Carolina Savino and Liana Gellura each added one goal apiece. Riley Alsheimer, Antonietta Delmonaco and Brigid Loughlin also dished out assists for The ’Set.
Wheatley 3, Division 1: Brooke Zeifman scored two goals to lead Wheatley (2-1) in non-league play. Her older sister, Ashley Zeifman, picked up a goal and an assist. Emily Rutigliano saved five shots and Amaia Valerrama stopped three. Abigail Lahn scored a goal and Samantha Castora made 14 saves for Division (0-2).
Calhoun 3, Bellmore JFK 1: Sabrina Curcio scored a goal late in the first half from 35 yards out to help lead Calhoun (1-1-1) in non-league action. Liana Serrano and Emily Hill each scored in the second half. Juliet Steele scored off an assist from Kate Seidler and Samantha Lapidus made eight saves for Bellmore JFK (2-1).
Seaford 4, Farmingdale 1: Grace Cullingford picked up a goal and an assist to lead Seaford (2-0-1) in a non-league match. Leah Conklin, Georgina Deros and Gia Cosentino each scored a goal. Alessia Mitarotonda added an assist and Kelly Harrington made four saves. Kelsey Brosnan scored off an assist from Valerie Turc, and Emma Ferraro made eight saves, followed by Chloe Alfano with five saves, for Farmingdale (2-1).
BOYS SOCCER
Carle Place 4, Mineola 1: Cristiano Costa had two goals and an assist to lead Carle Place (4-0) in a non-league game. Gavin Lima and Evan Mehalakes both scored a goal. Logan Fraine saved five of the six shots he faced. Marc Machado knocked home a penalty kick for Mineola (1-1).
Northport 4, Cold Spring Harbor 0: Joey Smith and Cameron Fischer totaled a goal and an assist to lead Northport (1-0-2) to a non-league victory. Ryan Deutcsh recorded four saves to hold the shutout. Jaden Guardado and Brandon Weissman both scored a goal. Caleb Louie made six saves for Cold Spring Harbor (0-3).
Floral Park 2, South Side 2: Kaden Sy saved seven shots for Floral Park (1-0-1) and Ryan Hoffman made six stops for South Side (1-0-2) in a non-league draw. Noah Porter and Mason Woo both scored for the Knights. Joseph Donovan and Benjamin Taly each scored a goal and Preston Sotirhos picked up an assist for the Cyclones.
The Stony Brook School 4, Friends Academy 1: Luka McMullan, Luka Philip-Ikpo, Jeremiah Coty and Rodrigo Gonzales all scored one goal apiece to lead The Stony Brook School (2-1) in non-league play. Carmine Gironda and Massimo Arnone each saved two shots for the Bears. Edgar Mattias scored a goal off an assist from Luca Kraska and Ryder Marcus made three saves for Friends Academy (0-2).
FIELD HOCKEY
Massapequa 1, Clarke 0: Annabelle Schlitt scored a first-quarter goal off an assist from Delaney Diesso and Isla Sikinger held the shutout with three saves to lead Massapequa to a season-opening win in Nassau I action. Makena Wehrman made six saves for Clarke in what was also its season opener.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Ward Melville 3, Port Jefferson 2: Lily Czaplinski and Brea McIntosh each had 15 kills to lead Ward Melville to a season-opening win in five sets, 11-25, 27-25, 12-25, 25-17, 15-12 in non-league action. Maria Cerulli contributed 37 digs in the victory. Sara Puopolo had 12 kills, 25 digs and two aces, Anneliese Rago added 10 kills, 18 digs and four aces, and Ava Reilly served up 32 assists and picked up 22 digs for Port Jefferson (3-1).
