Craig Carton’s new podcast on OutKick will be the same and also very different than his WFAN afternoon show.

It will be the same, Carton told Newsday in a telephone interview last week, in that “the sensibility of the show is not going to change. I do what I do.”

But the OutKick show, which will be called “The Craig Carton Show” and launches on Tuesday at 6 p.m., will be national instead of local, and will be about more than just sports. Carton’s WFAN show is called “The Carton Show.”

OutKick is a conservative platform that is becoming the official sports brand of FOX News Digital. Its motto is “where sports and culture collide."

And Carton is no stranger to colliding with hot topics in sports and culture.

“What I'm really excited about with the show and OutKick is it's going to be far more interview heavy than anything I've done before,” Carton said. “I think there's just so many amazing, interesting people that I've always wanted to talk to, and I've always prided myself on being a top-notch interviewer. This affords me the opportunity to get more into that than I have done in the past. We'll hit every major national sports story. It's completely different, separate from anything I'm going to do with WFAN, especially this time of year, where FAN is going to be laser focused on the New York Yankee playoff run, you have the Jets and Giants, and then in a few more months, the Knicks trying to win back-to-back championships.

“There are topics that I wouldn't talk about or certainly go in depth on on the FAN that I have the luxury of going in depth on now. But it’s still my voice and my kind of brain processing how I react to stories.”

Despite debuting on a Tuesday, “The Craig Carton Show” is scheduled to drop on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. But Carton has too much to say to just be contained to three days a week. He recently wrapped up a daily podcast with a different subsidiary of Fox.

“I know Monday, Wednesday, Friday is the ultimate plan,” Carton said. “But I would say that people should have an expectation of seeing and hearing me every day out of the gate.”

When the new show was announced last month, FOX News Digital’s editorial executive vice president Tommy Firth said in a statement: “This is a pivotal moment for OutKick as the integration with FOX News Digital will expand its reach and influence throughout sports media. Craig Carton’s distinctive voice will resonate with our audience and seamlessly meets this moment for OutKick.”

Said Carton: “To be associated with the Fox News brand was a big selling point to make, because I have great respect for Fox News. I watch Fox News. It gives me a platform to talk about things, again, that the New York radio audience wouldn't want necessarily to hear me do longform on.”

Among the things that Carton said he would have talked about if the new show had been live last week was “Tiger Woods and his plea deal. Obviously, the kind of social impact on the WNBA is a right topic any day of the week. I'd be talking about the guy who pretended to be an NFL football player. And Tony Romo. We probably would have done a half hour on that.”

Carton’s first-week guests will include actor and super Knicks fan Michael Rapaport on Tuesday and former Mets pitcher Al Leiter on Friday, the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
