Eataly, the global Italian marketplace, plans to open at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) Terminals 4, 5, and 8 later this year. The locations — which will land in the international, Jet Blue and American Airlines’ terminals — will be Eataly’s first concepts within a major transportation hub in the country.
Eataly has more than 50 stores worldwide (including three in Manhattan) that offer shoppers upscale market items — fresh and dried pastas, cheeses, oils and gourmet kitchen items — as well as on-site salumerias, gelatarias, bakeries and sit-down restaurants. The new JFK airport concepts will be quick-service with grab-and-go food and some dine in space.
The expansion will help Eataly "reach new audiences" given that Kennedy airport serves more than 60 millions passengers a year, North America CEO Tommaso Brusò said in a press statement. Likewise, the appeal for Port Authority, which operates the airport, is "creating a uniquely New York sense of place at JFK through the additions of iconic local concessions, art and design" that enhance passengers' experience, said Rick Cotton, Port Authority's executive director.
The expansion comes on the heels of Eataly’s recent opening of the first-ever Eataly Caffe, near Rockefeller Center, as well as another in Hudson Yards, both within Manhattan.
