Schmackary's, famous NYC cookie bakery, opening first Long Island store in Albertson on May 31

Long Islanders can soon kick off the summer with a new assortment of treats.

Schmackary’s Lip-Schmackin’ Good Cookies bakery, known for providing Broadway-goers with more than 100 rotating flavors of cookies in Hell’s Kitchen, will have its grand opening on May 31 in its first Long Island location.

The Albertson location at 1044 Willis Avenue will rotate 12 flavors each month depending on the season, along with the bakery's classic, Funfetti, and cookies-and-cream cookies year-round, owner Brenda Grayson previously told Newsday.

"Having an official opening date marks a huge milestone for us — it means the dream of bringing Schmackary’s to Long Island is finally becoming a reality," Grayson wrote in an emailed statement to Newsday on Wednesday. "We’re beyond excited to become part of such a caring and vibrant community." 

Known for its own twists on classic flavors like oatmeal and chocolate, and new flavors like Key lime pie and pumpkin chai, each Schmackary cookie has its own unique recipe that combines crisp edges and soft chewy centers.

Cookies are sold individually and in box sets. Vegan and gluten-free options also will be available.

The Long Island store will hold a series of promotions to celebrate the opening.

On May 31, the first 100 guests will receive a free cookie and can enter to win “Cookies for a Month.”

A Family Fun Day will take place on June 1, and the store will offer face painting and cookie decorating kits. Kids under 12 will receive a free mini macaroon with purchase.

On June 2, hospital workers, teachers, and senior center staff will receive a free cookie when showing their ID. Students who show their school ID on June 3 will receive a free cookie and 10% off a student box.

Founder Zachary Schmahl previously told Newsday that, like his Hell’s Kitchen location, he intends to uphold the value of community in the Long Island franchise.

"No matter where we go, we really want to be a pillar of the community," he previously said. "We focus on Midwestern hospitality, which is something that we feel has gotten lost over the years, as people are going so digital."

Grayson, in an emailed statement, said: "This opening isn’t just about launching a new location; it’s about extending the Schmackary’s family and bringing a little sweetness to the neighborhood."
