An advocate for affordable housing and home ownership in Wyandanch has joined the board of directors of the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency.
Sondra Cochran, executive director of the Wyandanch Community Development Corp., attended her first IDA meeting this week. She succeeds attorney David Rosenberg, who resigned from the seven-member board after 15 years.
Cochran was appointed by the county legislature. She has spent more than 20 years at the development corporation, which counsels Wyandanch residents on housing issues, builds homes and helps rehabilitate others. She also has been active in Wyandanch Rising, a multimillion-dollar blight removal project.
IDA board members are not paid.
