Stop & Shop’s website and mobile application remained offline Thursday afternoon over a "security issue" announced by its parent company Monday.
Ahold Delhaize, the Netherlands-based company that owns Stop & Shop as well as various grocery store chains across the United States, Europe and Indonesia, took "some systems offline" as a precautionary measure while its "teams are taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue" within its network, the company said in a Monday news release.
"Protecting our infrastructure in the best interest of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority," the Dutch company added. "We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused customers and partners."
Although its brick-and-mortar grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations are open, customers were advised that any digital orders they previously placed that went unfulfilled will be refunded, Stop & Shop said in a statement.
"We are working to restore service as quickly as possible," the grocery chain added. ... "We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience."
The statement recommended customers use other delivery platforms to shop from the store.
