Regal’s dollar-a-movie deal is back for the summer.
The theater chain’s popular offer is good for mostly older releases on weekdays only.
Launched in 1991, Regal’s $1 Summer Movie Express program is aimed at families looking for a little cool entertainment during what are often the hottest weeks of the year. The program runs from June 1 to Aug. 13 and starts at 11 a.m. on Mondays through Thursdays. It also includes $3 off a Snack Pack that comes with a junior-size drink, popcorn and fruit gummies. Regal operates theaters on Long Island, including in Deer Park, East Hampton, Lynbrook and Westbury.
Among the films eligible for a $1 ticket, according to Regal’s website: the animated musical comedy “Sing,” last year’s smash hit “A Minecraft Movie,” the popular "Kung Fu Panda 4" and “Paddington in Peru.” One current release in the lineup is “Animal Farm,” Andy Serkis’ animated adaptation of the George Orwell novel, which features the voices of Seth Rogen, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close and others.
