The Granola Bar on Long Island, which opened in Woodbury a year ago, has expanded to Massapequa Park, giving the South Shore another brunch option.

This all-day brunch spot is "a cousin to Woodbury," according to co-owner Dana Noorily, who launched The Granola Bar alongside partner Julie Mountain more than a decade ago. While the Woodbury eatery is dark and moody, Massapequa Park's is lighter and brighter. It's buzzy, with white walls and exposed natural elements like painted wood and brick, tan wicker chairs and periwinkle blue wallpaper that make the space feel more cozy, but equally chic.

The health-conscious, modern comfort food menu includes all-day breakfast, toasts, a build-your-own granola bowl bar, parfaits, loaded salads, hearty sandwiches and a bevy of coffee drinks, including hard lattes laced with alcohol, and dirty sodas in a pop of color. There are even root beer floats and egg creams.

For breakfast, you’ll find wraps like The Dana, which includes egg whites, spinach, avocado and turkey bacon in a grilled whole wheat wrap ($12); pancakes, fluffy challah French toast ($12); and a steak and egg burrito ($18) with hash browns, black beans, avocado, pickled onions, chimichurri and jalapeño sauce. Those hash browns are salty, crunchy perfection and come alongside a bacon, egg and cheese on brioche and a latte in The Complete ($12). Nine-ounce bags of the eponymous granola are available for purchase ($9) in flavors like toasted coconut, cinnamon honey and lemon biscotti.

Feeling more like lunch? Signature toasts include classic avocado ($14) with toppings from feta and crushed red pepper to tuna tartar. Salads and bowls — like the Bar Caesar ($16) and the Taco Bowl ($18) — can be protein-loaded with granola, pork carnitas, chicken, salmon, steak, sesame-crusted tuna or tofu. Sandwiches range from a hot honey chicken sandwich ($17) to a blackened salmon wrap with green goddess dressing ($17) to Parmesan crusted grilled cheese and avocado on sourdough ($15) and classic tuna ($15). There are also shareable dishes like shishito peppers ($13), pigs in blankets, cheeseburger sliders ($23) and burrata ($18).

Having grown up in Massapequa, Mountain was thrilled at the prospect of opening this second Long Island location. "It’s an amazing full circle moment for me to have built the business for 13 years with Dana only to bring The Granola Bar to my hometown," she said. On opening day, Mountain’s former high school health teacher stopped in for breakfast.

Morning coffee fans will appreciate seasonal caffeinated twists like a decadent cinnamon bun latte ($5.75) and a pumpkin pie cold foam iced coffee flavored with pumpkin pie syrup, cardamom, cinnamon and nutmeg ($5.75). The string of eateries includes locations in Connecticut, in Stamford, Fairfield, Greenwich and Darien, and in New York, in Manhattan and Rye.
