Just over three months since it opened in March, The Brewtique at Hoptron has closed in Port Jefferson.

Owner Amanda K. Danielsen confirmed the closure in a text message Wednesday, stating, "We gave it everything we had. Hoptron was built around an idea I genuinely believed in, and I'm proud of what we created. But sometimes a concept can be good and the timing, economics, or circumstances just don't come together the way you'd hoped. Closing was a difficult decision, but it was the right one."

Danielsen first announced the closure on the business' Instagram page Tuesday, with a picture and the words, "here's where the story ends." Hoptron had a large following of beer enthusiasts, as it was one of the craft beer pioneers on Long Island.

Hoptron got its start in Patchogue and was open for seven years until it closed in early 2020. Danielsen sold the bar right before the pandemic and tried to make a second go of it in Port Jefferson, in the space that formerly held the original Toast Coffeehouse.

A sign on the door of the Port Jefferson space reads, "closed," but the furniture is still in place.
