Field, 55, of Cutchogue, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic and Working Families party lines in the general election. This is her first bid for public office.
She is an attorney in private practice, handling wills, real estate transactions and landlord-tenant disputes.
Field works part-time as recording secretary for the Mattituck Park District and previously worked for the North Fork Promotion Council, NJPIRG and the Voting Rights Lab.

Field said she would use her organizational and communication skills to improve efficiency, look at processes to see if there are more efficient ways to work and consider offering more online services.
She said she would look for new ways to communicate effectively with the public, including posting quick summaries of town meetings and updating outdated language on web pages.
She also would extend office hours to include evening or weekend hours, based on demand, to make it easier for people to get permits.
