BACKGROUND

  • Noncarrow, 62, of Peconic, a registered Republican, is seeking his second term as town clerk. He is running on the Republican and Conservative line.
  • He formerly was the town’s government liaison officer, where he worked on grants and special projects, and before that worked for Suffolk County as a dispatcher and service writer in fleet management.
  • Noncarrow is a board member of the North Fork Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Southold Lions Club and a deacon and elder at Mattituck Presbyterian Church. He said he has earned the designation Registered Municipal Clerk and is co-president of District 1 of the New York State Town Clerk’s Association.

ISSUES

  • He will continue to have staff cross-train on duties, Noncarrow said, and keep updating the web site. A recent upgrade to the app that runs town meetings allowed the 2026 proposed budget to be posted quickly, he said.
  • Bilingual staff have been added, he said, as well as more opportunities for making online payments and permit applications for waste management and beach parking.
  • The office is preparing for a projected mid-2026 move to the town annex and is working with DPW on designing the office’s workflow for best results, he said.
