BACKGROUND

  • Fischthal, 25, of North Woodmere, is a registered Democrat. He is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election. He is a public affairs and communications executive with Hanbury Strategy, a strategic advisory firm.
  • He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Harvard University. He received a Fulbright scholarship and taught English and history at a school in Madrid, Spain.
  • Fischthal was a field organizer in New Hampshire for the Biden 2020 presidential campaign. He worked for the Center for European Policy Studies on transatlantic policy issues.

ISSUES

  • Fischthal said he wants to restore trust in Nassau County government by “tackling corruption” and making the government “work for everyone, not just the politically connected.”
  • He said he wants to keep his district “affordable, thriving and livable” by reducing property taxes, boosting small businesses, creating jobs and strengthening public schools.
  • Fischthal said he also wants to combat antisemitism and all forms of hate.
