Kopel, 74, of Lawrence, is a registered Republican and is running on the Republican and Conservative Party lines in the general election. He is seeking reelection and is also presiding officer of the Nassau County Legislature.
He is an attorney and founder of a national title insurance and settlement services company in Valley Stream. He graduated from Brooklyn College and Brooklyn College Law School.
Kopel is active in local synagogues and community organizations.

Kopel cites affordability as one of his top issues and said he cut property taxes by $70 million and wants to freeze taxes for 2026.
He said he is committed to protecting suburban communities.
Kopel said he opposes antisemitism and hate crimes and worked to increase police presence and protect houses of worship.
