BACKGROUND
- Donnelly, 61, of Garden City, is a registered Republican running for her second, 4-year term. She also is running on the Conservative Party line.
- She was a prosecutor in the Nassau County district attorneys office for 32 years before becoming district attorney. During that time, she served as deputy bureau chief of the Organized Crime and Rackets Bureau and the Economic Crimes Bureau.
- Donnelly holds a bachelor's degree and a law degree from Fordham University.
ISSUES
- Donnelly says her top priority is keeping Nassau's neighborhoods safe and will continue to prosecute violent offenders, gang members, sexual predators and major drug traffickers.
- Donnelly established specialized units — including the Firearm Suppression Unit, Cyber Crimes & Pharmaceutical Unit, and R.A.I.L. Unit — focused on preventing violence and tackling modern criminal threats before they endanger the public.
- Donnelly says she will continue to fight against cashless bail, radical discovery rules and the "Clean Slate" law, working to ensure prosecutors can keep dangerous criminals off the streets.
