BACKGROUND
- Talbot, 58, of Cutchogue, a registered Republican, is running on the Republican and Conservative lines. He previously served on the town board from 2010-2013.
- He has been senior building and zoning inspector for the village of Southampton for 21 years and was in the same role in Sag Harbor for several years. He worked as a plumber for 15 years and was a Mattituck Park District commissioner.
- He is a licensed EMT. Talbot has been a member of the Cutchogue Fire Department for 21 years, where he also is a commissioner, and was a member of the Mattituck Fire Department for 18 years.
ISSUES
- Talbot said he would continue working on land preservation policies with farmers and landowners, seeking preservation over development as land prices increase.
- He said the town needs to find ways to provide more affordable housing. "We have to think outside the box a little more and look at ways to zone for affordable housing needs," Talbot said.
- Talbot said the town needs to streamline its codes and enforcement process and make it easier for residents to understand the code. He said he would use his knowledge and experience to help that process and to remove unenforceable items.
