BACKGROUND

  • Walsh, 75, of Mineola, a registered Republican, is seeking reelection on the Republican and Conservative lines. He previously served as a trustee on the Mineola Village Board for nine years. 
  • He was a New York City Police Department officer from 1971 to 1986 before retiring. He said he ran a house-painting business for about 25 years until 2019. 
  • He graduated from Mineola High School in 1968. Walsh is a member of the Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens, and of the Portuguese Heritage Society.

ISSUES

  • Walsh said he wants to continue to improve infrastructure in the town, including roads, sidewalks and trees. 
  • He said he wants to continue communicating with his constituents and getting back to the public immediately.
  • Walsh said he wants to keep taxes low, while also cutting waste and streamlining services by upgrading technology across departments as the town did with the building department.
