Walsh, 75, of Mineola, a registered Republican, is seeking reelection on the Republican and Conservative lines. He previously served as a trustee on the Mineola Village Board for nine years.
He was a New York City Police Department officer from 1971 to 1986 before retiring. He said he ran a house-painting business for about 25 years until 2019.
He graduated from Mineola High School in 1968. Walsh is a member of the Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens, and of the Portuguese Heritage Society.

Walsh said he wants to continue to improve infrastructure in the town, including roads, sidewalks and trees.
He said he wants to continue communicating with his constituents and getting back to the public immediately.
Walsh said he wants to keep taxes low, while also cutting waste and streamlining services by upgrading technology across departments as the town did with the building department.
