BACKGROUND
- Smyth, 54, is a registered Republican who is running on the Republican Conservative lines.
- He was elected to the Huntington Town Board in 2017 and served as deputy supervisor before being elected supervisor in 2021.
- He is a U.S. Marine Corps reserve veteran. He has a law degree from New York Law School and has practiced law for the past 28 years. He is the owner of his own law firm on Main Street.
ISSUES
- Smyth said he would continue to be fiscally responsible by managing the town’s finances with frugal spending and focusing spending on essentials such as trucks, roads, drainage, garbage, playground equipment and public safety.
- During his next term he said he will focus on improving customer service out of town hall to make sure constituents are being served in a courteous and timely manner.
- He said preserving open space remains a priority and stopping overdevelopment in downtowns by enforcing zoning codes while encouraging smart development.
