BACKGROUND

  • Guadrón, 64, of Central Islip, is a registered Democrat seeking reelection to Islip's 1st District town board seat on the Democratic and Working Families Party lines. He was first elected to the board in 2022.
  • Guadrón was born in El Salvador and moved to the United States roughly 40 years ago. He received a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Nyack College and went on to found a marketing company.
  • He has served as the president of the Salvadoran American Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the New York State Democratic Committee for the 6th Assembly District. Guadrón also held a union leadership position when working in New York City's hospitality industry.

ISSUES

  • Guadrón said one of his top priorities is to reduce crime, vandalism and loitering that hinders local businesses. He mentioned identifying areas that need more patrols, such as Heyward Street in Brentwood.
  • He wants to tackle road repair because "too many streets in our community have been neglected for decades." Guadrón said he's advocating for a "comprehensive broad repair plan" to begin addressing the issue.
  • Guadrón wants to modernize what he described as Brentwood Legion Ambulance's outdated facility. He plans to seek state funding so as to mitigate town-specific tax hikes.
