BACKGROUND
- Ryder, 57, of Lynbrook, is a registered Republican and is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. She was appointed to the Hempstead Town Board in 2023 and served on the Lynbrook Village Board for two years.
- She founded the Lynbrook Cares Committee, which brings together volunteers to help seniors and the disabled with tasks such as yard work and snow shoveling.
- Ryder served on the Lynbrook Beautification Committee, the Lynbrook 9-11 Memorial Committee and with the Lynbrook Community Chest. She was named Nassau Citizens United 2018 Finest Influential Woman of the Year and Lynbrook 2018 Humanitarian of the Year.
ISSUES
- Ryder said she will continue to focus on taxes, while being mindful of providing the same high-quality programs and services. She said it is imperative that the community is affordable, so residents continue to want to live and raise their families in Lynbrook.
- Ryder said she will continue advocating for enhancements to roadways, infrastructure, parks, beaches and nature preserves.
- Ryder said the incidents of antisemitic displays at neighborhood parks and in residential communities in recent years is of concern and that she will continue to focus on the rise in hate crimes, speech and violence.
