BACKGROUND

  • Bernardo, 70, of West Hampton Beach, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election.
  • He was a graphic design artist, visual-effect artist and creative director for 50 years. He said he designed six Olympics and worked on Super Bowls, Monday Night Football, Monday Night Baseball and directed the graphic design of commercials.
  • He has been on the Southampton Democratic Committee for two years.

ISSUES

  • Bernardo said he wants to enhance cybersecurity for all data held by Southampton Town. He said the first thing he would do would be a “cyber audit” of the data centers to “make sure we don’t have any wormholes” where residents’ sensitive information could be taken.
  • He said he wants to “streamline the office” to make it more efficient, and have more applications and payments be available online.
  • Bernardo said he wants to “communicate with the community” about Southampton’s abundant archives and said the town’s legacy “is extraordinary.”
