FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – The Jets could be without their best player for Sunday’s game in Kansas City.
Wide receiver Garrett Wilson is in the concussion protocol, Aaron Glenn announced. It stemmed from a helmet-to-helmet hit on the Jets’ next-to-last offensive play of Sunday’s loss to Las Vegas. Wilson caught a 15-yard pass and was drilled by Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn, who was flagged for unnecessary roughness.
Wilson leads the Jets with 43 catches for 527 yards and three touchdowns. If he can’t play, No. 2 receiver Adonai Mitchell would be in line for another big game. Mitchell caught seven passes for 142 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders.
It would also open more opportunities for rookie receiver Omar Cooper Jr., who had zero catches against Las Vegas after posting two straight 100-yard games, and rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq. After a strong start to the season, Sadiq has just five catches in the last five games.
The Jets could have running back Breece Hall back Sunday after a five-game absence with a quad injury. Glenn said Hall was limited in practice, but he’s “trending in the right direction.”
Braelon Allen has put together four straight games of over 100 scrimmage yards in Hall’s place. Glenn wouldn’t say how the workload would be split in the backfield, other than “both guys will play.”
Rookie edge rusher David Bailey, who didn’t play against Vegas because of a groin injury, was limited. Glenn also said Bailey is trending in a positive way.
