OFFENSE
Simply not good enough. You can’t expect to beat the Patriots while scoring one offensive touchdown. The Jets had plenty of opportunities, but they could not come through when needed. They were just 3 of 10 on third downs and 0-for-2 on two fourth-and-shorts. Geno Smith threw his first interception of the season and it was a poor decision under pressure in Patriots’ territory. The defense forced two turnovers. One gave the Jets the ball at New England's 36. The Jets converted both takeaways into field goals. Garrett Wilson was a non-factor. He caught just four passes for 44 yards. Rookie Omar Cooper Jr, playing for the first time since injuring his ankle in Week 1, had a big game with six catches for 103 yards. He caught two touchdown passes. Only one of them counted, though. The first was negated by a penalty on Tim Patrick. The second was a 48-yard pass from Smith.

DEFENSE
Aaron Glenn’s defense was able to keep the Jets in this game. Forcing those two second-half turnovers were big reasons, but the defense rarely got any pressure on Drake Maye and made too many costly mistakes. The Jets recorded no sacks against a decimated Patriots’ offensive line that lost three starters in this game to injury. The few times they got pressure, Maye was able to make plays with his feet or finding a wide-open tight end. There was a defensive miscommunication that led to tight end Hunter Henry being wide-open for a fourth-quarter touchdown. David Bailey forced a fumble but he had a roughing the passer penalty and a neutral zone infraction deep in Jets territory on two of the Patriots’ touchdown drives.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Kicker Jason Sanders accounted for 13 of the Jets’ points on Sunday. He made all four of his field goal tries (42, 36, 40, 36 yards) and an extra point. He almost executed a successful onside kick at the end of the game. A.J Brown couldn’t control it, but the Patriots recovered. The Jets continue to get little in their return game and their return coverage gave up some big plays. Corey Kiner returned two kickoffs for more than 31 yards that gave New England good starting field position.

COACHING
It’s inexplicable that Garrett Wilson wasn't fed the ball more, even if Christian Gonzalez is covering him. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich has to make sure Wilson gets the ball. The Jets also went away from the run game when Braelon Allen was having a good game. The penalties continue to be an issue. That lack of discipline has to be corrected in practice.
