PSAL football rankings after Week 1's games

Large School Rankings
1. Erasmus Hall (Brooklyn) (1): The Dutchmen looked like themselves, defeating Kennedy, 43-6. Nayir Jackson had five catches for 102 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Trevor Smith added a 45-yard punt return for a touchdown.
2. Eagle Academy II (Brooklyn (2): The Eagles took down perennial power Lincoln, 42-0. Anthony Caratelli went 14-for-15 for 279 yards and four touchdowns. Kaevon Robinson led the defense with nine tackles.
3. Curtis (Staten Island) (3): Christian Carter threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns in a 43-12 win over South Shore. Joshua Peabody had two interceptions as Curtis recorded four as a team.
4. Tottenville (Staten Island) (4): Kory Brown rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns in a 59-6 win over Port Richmond. The Pirates exploded for 37 first-half points and proved that despite many new faces, they remain in the top tier of the PSAL.
5. Lincoln (Brooklyn) (5): The Railsplitters fell to Eagle Academy II (Brooklyn), 42-0. Somari DeCoteau had six tackles defensively and will also be a key receiver. Lincoln has a bounce-back opportunity hosting New Dorp.
6. Kennedy (Bronx) (6): JFK’s non-league success ran into a brick wall at Sid Luckman Field, falling to Erasmus Hall, 43-6. Livon Correa had 12 tackles. JFK hosts Brooklyn Tech Friday at 6 p.m.
7. New Utrecht (Brooklyn) (NR): The Utes have the best resume of any 3A team this season. They defeated Port Richmond (4A) in non-league and took down Sheepshead Bay, 35-28, in double overtime. Kenneth Shaw totaled 156 yards of offense and two touchdowns against Sheepshead Bay.
8. Sheepshead Bay (Brooklyn) (7): The Sharks were stunned in their first league game, losing to New Utrecht, 35-28. Jayden Browne threw for 215 yards and had three total touchdowns. The Sharks host Eagle Academy III (Queens) in a rematch of the 2024 PSAL 2A final.
9. A. Phillip Randolph (Manhattan) (9): The Cougars’ defense shut down James Madison’s explosive playmakers, holding them to 101 yards of offense. Zahaire Jones had a rushing touchdown in the 16-6 win.
10. South Shore (Brooklyn) (8): The Vikings fell to Curtis on the road, 43-12. Quarterback George Adams and wide receiver Herbert Matute displayed a nice connection. The Vikings host Fort Hamilton on Saturday.

Small School Rankings
1. William C. Bryant (Queens) (1): The defending 2A champions took care of business with a 24-8 win over Far Rockaway. Lorenzo Lopez totaled 194 yards of offense and a touchdown.
2. Transit Tech (Brooklyn) (3): The Express earned a massive come-from-behind 16-14 win over Boys and Girls, last season’s 2A runner-up. Corey Williams Smith rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown.
3. Boys and Girls (Brooklyn) (2): The Kangaroos blew a 14-6 advantage against Transit Tech. Alex Lopez leads them into their next game at Far Rockaway on Saturday.
4. McKee/Staten Island Tech (4): The Seagulls won via forfeit against Flushing. They picked up a nonleague game and defeated August Martin, 20-8, a contender in 1A.
5. Petrides (Staten Island) (6): Just like last year, the defense was lockdown. Petrides had seven shutouts last season and started 2026 with a 21-0 win over A-Tech.
6. East Harlem Pride (Manhattan) (7): Saraji Paige was unstoppable, scoring three touchdowns in a 26-0 win over Grand Street Campus. East Harlem held Grand Street to 40 rushing yards.
7. Beach Channel (Queens) (NR): The Dolphins upset Springfield Gardens, a 2A semifinalist last season, 6-0. Akio Miller had the game’s lone score. Tyhiem Jacobs had three tackles for loss.
8. Mott Haven (Bronx) (8): Rudolf Akumani was a perfect 8-for-8 for 98 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-2 win over George Washington. Jarrell Davis caught two of those touchdowns.
9. Far Rockaway (Queens) (9): Far Rockaway trailed defending champion Bryant by only eight at halftime before falling, 24-8. Courtney Rose had six tackles.
10. August Martin (Queens) (NR): A non-league win over Springfield Gardens got August Martin into the rankings before it fell to McKee, 20-8, this past week. Tyrese Vassell had seven catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.
