Alexis Fontana went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, including a fly ball to center that scored Abby Long in the sixth inning to give Plainedge’s softball team the lead in a 7-5 win over Clarke on Tuesday. Long went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a double. Meghan Moore went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double for Plainedge (12-5). Clarke fell to 11-6.
Kellenberg 3, Massapequa 2: Hailey McGreevy struck out two across a complete game, allowing four hits for Kellenberg (12-8) in non-league. Keara Irving had two doubles and two RBIs. Lauren O’Brien went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run. Massapequa fell to 12-6.
MONDAY’S GAME
Seaford 4, Wantagh 0: Rylie Betz pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out 16 and allowing two hits, for Seaford (8-7) against Wantagh (9-5) in Nassau I. Lauren LoPresti went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Madelyn Burgess hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
BASEBALL
Hauppauge 4, Westhampton 2: Brendan Magill and Giuseppe Calabrese hit back-to-back RBI singles in the third inning to help lead Hauppauge (11-5) past Westhampton (7-8) in Suffolk V.
East Meadow 9, Syosset 6: CJ Rojas went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for East Meadow (6-11) versus Syosset (4-10-1) in Nassau AAA-I. CJ Castillo had two RBIs.
Garden City 8, Manhasset 0: Joe Carey pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and striking out 13 to lead Garden City (14-3) in Nassau AA-II. Chris Desiderio and Jack Vessio each had two RBIs. Manhasset fell to 6-10-1.
MONDAY’S GAMES
Clarke 14, Mepham 3: Matt Kurz struck out seven in five innings, hit a home run and had three RBIs for Clarke (16-2) in Nassau AA-III. The Rams clinched the Conference AA-III title, its 27th league title in the past 30 years and 41st overall, according to coach Tom Abruscato. Mepham is 11-5.
Lynbrook 7, Valley Stream North 6: Peter Rahaniotis went 3-for-3 and hit a two-run walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh for Lynbrook (4-11-1) in Nassau A. Valley Stream North fell to 5-10-1.
Ward Melville 7, Sachem East 6: Danny Cornish’s RBI groundout scored Jackson Applustille in the top of the seventh to give Ward Melville (8-7) a walk-off Suffolk II win over Sachem East (6-8). Applustille went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Seaford 5, Locust Valley 4: Joe Rotondaro hit a two-out RBI single to drive in Matt Kind for Seaford (9-9) in a walk-off victory in Nassau A. Rotondaro was 4-for-4 with three RBIs.
BOYS LACROSSE
West Islip 15, Harborfields 5: Lucas Dumond won 23 of 24 faceoffs for West Islip (8-5) in Suffolk II. Will Schwarz had three goals and four assists. Mike Caccamo had three goals for Harborfields (10-3).
Floral Park 13, Division 7: Jack Gallagher had five goals and an assist for Floral Park (10-3) in Nassau III-A. Collin Murphy had three goals and two assists. Brennan Russo had two goals and an assist for Division (7-5).
East Islip 13, Center Moriches 8: Sean Hannigan had a goal and seven assists for East Islip (7-6) in Suffolk II. Luke Rochford made 15 saves, and Owen Madden had three goals and three assists. Doug Ruhs had three goals and one assist for Center Moriches (8-5).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Patchogue-Medford 22, Whitman 14: Addy Ruland had eight goals and four assists to lead Patchogue-Medford (6-7) in Suffolk I. Lily Durkin had 20 draw controls, three goals and two assists. Isabella Fiorelli had 12 goals and eight draw controls for Whitman (4-8).
FLAG FOOTBALL
Herricks 20, East Meadow District 12: Lia Bono rushed for a 10-yard touchdown in the first quarter to lead Herricks (6-7) in Nassau I. Regan Cottrell threw for a TD and ran for another. Bono and Dallas Madden both had interceptions.
BOYS TENNIS
Half Hollow Hills East 5, West Islip 2: Noah de Vera won, 6-2, 6-2, at first singles for Half Hollow Hills (11-1) in back-to-back league championships in Suffolk I-West.
