Stephen Castellano scored five goals in No. 2 Sachem North’s 13-10 win over No. 3 Ward Melville in the semifinals of the boys lacrosse Suffolk Class A playoffs. Henry Sarro added three goals. Gavin Nuzzi had a goal and four assists. Sachem North (15-3) will face the winner of No. 1 Northport/No. 4 Half Hollow Hills 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Stony Brook in the finals. Ward Melville finished 13-5.
Babylon 7, Center Moriches 6: Thomas Kenny made 15 saves in No. 2 Babylon’s win over No. 3 Center Moriches in the Suffolk Class D playoffs. Kevin Bonilla had two goals and an assist. Babylon (12-3) will face No. 1 Bayport-Blue Point at 3 p.m. Saturday at Stony Brook in the final. Center Moriches finished 11-6.
SOFTBALL
Tuesday’s games
Patchogue-Medford 14, Sachem East 13: Ahria Treschl hit a walk-off three-run home run to lead No. 3 Patchogue-Medford over No. 5 Sachem East in the Suffolk Class AAA playoffs. Treschl went 4-for-5 with two doubles and seven RBIs. Sophia Randazzo added three hits. Cailyn Rose-Freaney went 2-for-4 and earned the win in relief. Sofia Demasi and Pressley Hamilton had a double and two RBIs. Patchogue-Medford (19-5) will host No. 6 Ward Melville at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in an elimination game. Sachem East finished 15-6.
Ward Melville 1, Northport 0: Avery Wierzbicki hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning in No. 6 Ward Melivlle’s win over No. 8 Northport in a Suffolk Class AAA elimination game. Julianna Russ pitched eight shutout innings with five strikeouts. Ward Melville will play No. 3 Patchogue-Medford/No. 5 Sachem East 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Northport finished 17-8.
BASEBALL
Sayville 2, Shoreham-Wading River 1: Joe Strining hit an RBI single that drove in Brody Tellier in the first inning in No. 2 Sayville’s win over No. 4 Shoreham-Wading River in a Suffolk Class A double elimination game. Jack Lankowicz hit a sac fly to drive in Aiden Devane and allowed one run, two hits with seven strikeouts in relief. Sayville (18-5) will face No. 1 Kings Park 3 p.m. Saturday at Middle Country Athletic Complex in the finals. Shoreham-Wading River finished 16-9.
