Jane Tierney racked up 28 kills, 21 digs and three service aces to lead visiting Islip to a 3-2 comeback win over Harborfields in five sets, 22-25, 23-25, 25-14, 25-22, 15-6, in a Suffolk League V girls volleyball match in Greenlawn on Monday night. Cali Addeo also had 16 kills and 11 digs, and added four aces. Grace Ryan picked up 16 digs and served three aces in the win for Islip (9-0) over Harborfields (4-5).
Riverhead 3, Brentwood 2: Kassidy Doyle totaled nine kills, and Riley Kidney picked up 29 assists and three aces to lead host Riverhead (3-8) past Brentwood (5-6) in five sets, 25-21, 17-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-7, in Suffolk I. Leandra North added eight kills and two blocks. Madison Zambriski contributed seven kills and eight digs.
Sachem East 3, Commack 1: Bridget Hansen posted a triple-double with 23 kills, 23 digs and 13 assists, and also served six aces to lead Sachem East (10-1) past Commack (5-5) in four sets, 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 25-19, in Suffolk II. Alyssa Alamia contributed 15 digs, four assists and an ace. Isabella Doering added 12 assists, five digs, three kills and one ace.
East Islip 3, Eastport-South Manor 1: Jillian Hutter totaled 17 kills, two blocks and two aces to lead East Islip (3-7) past Eastport-South Manor (1-10) in four sets, 25-14, 25-12, 15-25, 25-20, in Suffolk IV.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Valley Stream South 3, Valley Stream North 1: Leo Rodriguez finished with 28 kills and 17 digs to lead Valley Stream South (2-10) past Valley Stream North (2-5) in four sets, 24-26, 25-18, 25-20, 29-27, in Nassau III-B play. Jaxon Hunter added nine kills, five aces and 21 digs. Ashton Espinoza served up 23 assists and five aces.
Great Neck South 3, Jericho 1: Bowie Joergens totaled 10 kills, 12 assists, five blocks and four aces to lead Great Neck South (5-4) past Jericho (6-3) in four sets, 25-27, 25-22, 26-24, 25-20, in Nassau I-B. Kaiden Ko contributed 15 assists and Nathan Chin chipped in 15 digs.
GIRLS SOCCER
Newfield 1, Longwood 0: Jasmine Farrugia scored the go-ahead goal off an assist from Giuliana Piccolo in the 60th minute to give Newfield (3-6-1) the lead in Suffolk I. Emily Leo saved nine shots keep a clean sheet. Liana Collazo made four saves for Longwood (6-5-1).
Lindenhurst 2, Sachem North 1: Alex Chodon scored two goals to lead Lindenhurst (2-5-1) in Suffolk I. Lili Vorndamme-Cajigal assisted Chodon’s first goal. Natalia Pacholska saved nine of the 10 shots she faced to secure the win. Antonia Torquato scored off an assist from Ashley Chmela and Layla DiRico made two saves for Sachem North (4-6).
The Stony Brook School 7, Abraham Joshua Heschel School 1: Tofunmi Adebiyi scored four goals and Hannah Kode dished out four assists to lead The Stony Brook School (4-6) in PSAA action. Gabriella Coscia made seven saves and assisted on a goal.
BOYS SOCCER
Wantagh 2, Lynbrook 1: Joe Bianculli scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute to win it for Wantagh (4-7) in Nassau A. Andi Limaj opened the scoring off an assist from Bianculli in the first half and Alex Jung made five saves. Juan Chosec tied it and Matthew Ambery saved six shots for Lynbrook (3-8-2).
Smithtown West 2, Hauppauge 1: Michael Amoroso and Emilio Cuevas each scored a goal to move Smithtown West (7-2-1) into first place in the Suffolk IV standings. Thomas Maloney saved eight shots to secure the win. Eli Flaiz scored off an assist from Dominick Mroczkowski and Nico Mieles made nine saves for Hauppauge (8-3).
