Parking at the Belmont Park campus on Halloween might not be a treat.

Fans are being encouraged to take the train and arrive early in Elmont because Belmont Park is expected to be very busy on Saturday with an Islanders afternoon game, live horse racing and Halloween-themed activities.

On Thursday, the Islanders, the New York Racing Association and Belmont Park Village announced that they are recommending that all fans and guests utilize the Long Island Rail Road and public transit on Saturday.

The Islanders have a 2 p.m. game against the Oilers at UBS Arena. The 11-race program at Belmont Park begins at 11:05 a.m.

Belmont Park parking typically is in the Silver lot, and parking there for Saturday is being sold online for $8.38 per spot. Silver parking typically also is used for Islanders home games, and Saturday will be the team’s first day game to overlap with a racing program.

The Silver lot will have capacity for both Islanders fans and horse racing fans on Saturday, but Islanders fans might not all be accommodated because of the expected high volume of vehicles. Pre-paid parking is encouraged. Parking is jointly operated by UBS Arena and NYRA.

On Islanders home game days that overlap with Belmont Park race days, fans holding Islanders tickets can claim free general admission to the racetrack. Tickets to Belmont Park this fall cost $7 when purchased in advance and $10 at the gate. The racetrack has become a popular pregame spot for Islanders fans, as 205 Islanders ticket-holders redeemed free admission to Belmont Park on Oct. 10.

The Islanders’ Park on the Plaza will have an early 10 a.m. opening Saturday and feature trick-or-treating and other Halloween-themed activities.

Belmont Park is hosting a Halloween costume contest from noon to 1 p.m. inside Big Red’s on the first floor of the grandstand. The winners will earn two tickets to the 2027 Breeders’ Cup at Belmont Park.

All-day Halloween activities also will take place at the adjacent Belmont Park Village, and “The Slightly Spooky Maze” will open at 10 a.m. Saturday.
