Parma parts ways with Carlos Cuesta after winning only 1 of 5 Serie A matches

PARMA, Italy — Parma parted ways with coach Carlos Cuesta on Sunday after winning only one of its opening five Serie A matches.
The club said Cuesta “has been relieved of his duty” and that “following an internal discussion between the club and coach, it was agreed that the conditions in order to continue this working relationship and the advancement of the sporting project, were not being met. Both parties came to a mutual agreement.”
A replacement was not immediately named.
Parma beat Genoa last weekend but only has four points.
The 31-year-old Cuesta had been the youngest coach in the Italian league.
It’s the third coaching change in Serie A this season after Paolo Vanoli replaced Fabio Grosso at Fiorentina and Raffaele Palladino replaced Domenico Tedesco at Bologna.
Parma’s next match is at Serie A champion Inter Milan on Oct. 10 after the international break.

Cuesta was hired in June 2025 and guided Parma to a 13th-place finish last season.
