Mister Softee keeps giving Long Islanders reason to scream for ice cream. The soft-serve vendor will open it’s fifth Long Island outpost in Coram next month.

The store will open Sept. 4 in the former Milky Ways Ice Cream and Cereal Bar space on Route 112, John Guler said. The franchisees and siblings, Antonio and John Guler, opened the Center Moriches Mister Softee outpost last September.

The Coram spot will offer 44 flavors, including 40 hard-serve flavors, such as peanut butter pie and cappuccino crunch. They’ll also have four soft-serve flavors including the traditional vanilla and chocolate, and seasonal flavors such as pineapple and mango.

The opportunity for a second outpost for the franchisees came four months ago when they bought another Mister Softee truck and route in Coram.

"We saw that there was a brick-and-mortar store that looked like it would suit us well, so we talked to the landlord, and everything worked out," John said.

The store will be twice the size of the Center Moriches location, John said.

The siblings have a deep connection to the ice cream industry, as their late grandfather Giovanni DiGristina had been a Mister Softee franchisee since 1968. The siblings took over DiGristina’s route in 2017 after he retired in 2016. They expanded from the Shirley/Mastic Beach area into Moriches in 2020. DiGristina died earlier this year, John said and they’re trying to "keep his name alive through this."

"We want people to walk in and know they’re getting the same Mister Softee they remember from their childhood and giving them more reason to enjoy Mister Softee year-round," John said. "The trucks will always be a part of Mister Softee; the store lets us build on that experience."

Since 2025, the iconic ice cream vendor has experienced an expansion on Long Island. Other Long Island outposts are in East Islip, Miller Place and Oakdale.

Mister Softee, 2229 Route 112 Unit F, Coram, mistersoftee.com. (Starting Sept. 4.) Open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.
