High school roundup: Soccer, badminton and field hockey scores

Justin Valencia scored the winning goal off a cross from Andrew Pico in the eighth minute of overtime to lead Whitman to a 2-1 victory over Connetquot Monday in a Suffolk II boys soccer matchup. Connor Umstead also scored for the Wildcats (6-1-1). Kaan Kaya scored a goal for Connetquot (2-5-1).

East Islip 5, Northport 2: Nick Frisina and Brennan Grieve each scored two goals for East Islip (4-1-2) in Suffolk III. Chase Engel added a goal and an assist and JJ Kilfoil made 12 saves. Ty Hamada and Joey Smith scored and Teddy Hopkins made five saves for Northport (4-2-2).

GIRLS SOCCER

West Islip 1, Smithtown East 0: Avery Heuer scored off a corner kick from Maddi Rindos to lead West Islip (8-0) in Suffolk II. Kalinka Klusek made five saves. Madison Caglioti made six saves for Smithtown East (7-1).

West Babylon 2, Bellport 1: Gia Coladonato and Adrianna Dunsmore scored for West Babylon (2-7-1) in Suffolk II. Charlotte Hoisik made eight saves. Angie Deleg scored and Ava Abramson made four saves for Bellport (0-10).

Mineola 1, Valley Stream North 1: Sophia Prudenti scored for Mineola (8-0-1) and Daniella Morales scored for Valley Stream North (4-4-1) in Nassau A/B-III.

Clarke 5, Valley Stream South 3: Alexa Maia had three goals to lead Clarke (5-2-2) in Nassau A/B-III. Alison DeLuca had two goals and an assist. Celene Mora made eight saves. Anabelle Longo scored two goals for Valley Stream South (0-6).

BOYS BADMINTON

Syosset 6, Roslyn 1: Kingston Lu and Ateeq Panjwani defeated Aaron Zhu and Austin Wang, 21-18, 21-13, at fourth doubles for Syosset (6-3) in Nassau I. Felix Zhang and Aaron Wong defeated Aaron Ye and Andrew Zheng, 21-18, 21-15, at first doubles. Roslyn fell to 2-6.

Valley Stream District 7, Hempstead 0: Abed Dihan defeated Muhammad Abdulraffy, 21-13, 21-13, at third singles for Valley Stream District (7-1). Jonathan Tsui and Calvin Lee defeated Kedwin Martinez and Jayden Benitez, 21-10, 21-19, at first doubles.

Locust Valley 2, Seaford 1: Ava Cruz scored the go-ahead goal with four minutes left to lead Locust Valley (3-4) in Nassau II. Felipa Flesh scored off a pass from Tessa Matozzo in the second quarter. Georgia Uber made eight saves. Madison O’Hagan scored for Seaford (4-4).
