BACKGROUND
- Hebert, 57, of Huntington, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election.
- She served on the Huntington Union Free School District Board of Education from 2011 to 2020. She has served on the board of trustees for the Huntington Public Library for 2 years. Hebert has been the director of Saint John’s Nursery School for about 12 years, and has worked there in total for about 15 years.
- Hebert received a master’s degree in education from Tufts University in Massachusetts.
ISSUES
- Hebert said she wants to serve the community and be a voice at the table for issues such as development. She said the town council “owes the community the respect” of moving in the direction the community wants in terms of development.
- She said she wants to help Huntington protect the drinking water and the water in the harbors and beaches. She said she is concerned about the single source of drinking water being the aquifers that Huntington is on top of.
- Hebert said that better services are needed for the taxes paid by residents, and believes there is “room for improvement” in sharing resources on Long Island.
