BACKGROUND

  • Reinhart, 53, of Long Beach, is a registered Republican. He is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election and is seeking a second term.
  • He is a deputy commissioner for Nassau County Parks and Recreation. He previously worked for 25 years at fashion retailer Ralph Lauren’s Manhattan corporate headquarters.
  • Reinhart is a Long Beach Lightning hockey team manager and has coached basketball, volleyball and soccer for Long Beach youth teams. He plays beach volleyball for East End Volleyball in Long Beach.

ISSUES

  • Reinhart said his “number one issue is holding the line on taxes.” He said that with his support the council passed a 2024 budget with a 0% tax increase. He said the city was recently awarded an increase in its Moody’s bond rating, which means, “Moody’s has an optimistic outlook for Long Beach City finances.”
  • He said he supported the Long Beach police department’s establishment of a narcotics unit and increased community patrols. Reinhart said he also supported the Long Beach fire department’s addition of “the most updated equipment to keep the public safe.”
  • Reinhart said he supported the formation this year of the city’s first planning board “to help prevent past overdevelopment mistakes.”
