BACKGROUND

  • Monteleone, 52, of Syosset, is a registered Republican and is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. He was appointed to the board in February to fill a vacant seat. He has served on the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals and as a prosecutor for a local village government. 
  • He is a former Nassau County assistant district attorney and founded a law firm specializing in personal injury litigation and estate planning. He has been president of the former Assistant District Attorney’s Association. He is an active member of the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association.
  • Monteleone lectures at St. Edward the Confessor Parish and is a coach for the Syosset Little League.

ISSUES

  • Monteleone said he will continue to tackle quality-of-life issues like zombie homes but will balance the needs of residents while holding the line on taxes.
  • He said his focus will also include streamlining the process of having issues handled and combat the issues stemming from state mandates and policies.
  • Monteleone plans to advocate for maintaining local control over planning and development. Additionally, he said he will continue efforts to bring more economic opportunities to the town, work with all involved parties on the revitalization of downtown Hicksville and continue ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of waterways and preserve natural resources.
