- Smith, 56, of Massapequa Park, is not enrolled in a party and is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election. He is a retired school principal and is an adjunct professor at Molloy University in Rockville Centre.
- He graduated from SUNY Stony Brook with a bachelor’s degree in English and received a master’s degree in secondary education/English as well as professional certifications from CUNY Queens College. He has spent his entire career in education.
- Smith was a union representative and union president.
ISSUES
- Smith said he is concerned that the Town of Oyster Bay has been governed only by Republications for the past 30 years and said it is critical to have other voices and perspectives added to the council to improve the balance of power.
- He said he would address affordability so young people and senior homeowners are able to stay in town.
