BACKGROUND
- Pantazakos, 50, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Republican Party line in the general election. “The Democratic Party today is quite different from the one I knew in my younger years,” she said. Pantazakos has been on the planning board for three years and is making her first bid for public office.
- She was born and raised in Glen Cove, graduated from Glen Cove High School and has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Hofstra University in Hempstead.
- Pantazakos is a real estate owner and property manager for a Glen Cove-based family business. She chairs the Greek Festival at Garvies Point in Glen Cove for Holy Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church in Glen Head.
ISSUES
- Pantazakos said she is running because she “wants to be involved in making decisions for spending logically, keeping taxes low and maintaining financial stability for the city.”
- She said she has supported and donated to the Glen Cove Youth Bureau and will continue to support recreational programs and facilities in Glen Cove “so local children have somewhere to go and be active in healthful activities.”
- Pantazakos said revitalizing the downtown area should be a top priority to create “a welcoming hub for local shops that boosts our economy, strengthens community ties and builds pride in our city.”
