BACKGROUND

  • Moschetta, 66, of Glen Cove, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election. She ran for the city council in a 2014 special election.
  • She is a commercial insurance professional with more than 40 years of experience handling national accounts, and is currently the corporate risk manager for a Fortune 500 company. She has bachelor’s and a master’s degree in finance.
  • Moschetta has been a member of the Glen Cove Zoning Board of Appeals since 2005, and its chairperson since 2020. She serves on the board of the Coalition to Save Hempstead Harbor.

ISSUES

  • Moschetta said she will make hiring a full-time building department director “a top priority,” and will advocate for expanded staffing in both the building and the code enforcement departments “to ensure accountability and compliance.”
  • She said she will work closely with neighborhood associations to address quality-of-life concerns such as traffic infractions, overcrowded and illegal housing, litter and code violations.
  • She said her priorities also include reinstating quarterly town hall gatherings to hear directly from residents, and making the city’s website more interactive. “If you want things to be different, you have to do things differently,” she said.
